President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen.
The Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, confirmed this action on Twitter a few minutes ago. He wrote.
”JUST IN: President @MBuhari suspends the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen and appoints Mr. Ibrahim Tanko Muhammed as acting CJN.
President Buhari has replaced the Walter Onnoghen with Justice Tanko Mohammed from Bauchi, who happens to be next in line to the suspended Justice and he has been sworn in at the Council Chambers, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The suspended Justice is being tried for false declaration of assets.
