President Muhammadu Buhari today, January 24th, forwarded a proposed New National minimum wage of N27,000 to the National Assembly for approval.
The bill was confirmed by the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu when he read the President’s letter on the Senate’s floor during plenary.
The letter noted that acting fast on the bill would stabilise the economy as the Nigerian workers have been looking forward to solving the crisis.
“Mr Senate President, I hope if the bill is passed on time, it would stabilise the nation’s economy and avoid workers’ strike. ” Buhari said.
Recall that the N27,000 minimum wage was also approved by a body of past and present leaders of Nigeria at their meeting in the state house on the 22nd of January.
