A man was arrested after he reportedly caused a disturbance on a plane that landed Monday night in Oklahoma City, according to police officials.

According to police, at about 10:50 p.m. officers responded to a disturbance on a Southwest Airlines plane at Gate 14. Crew members told police when they were taxiing to the jet bridge, a man, later identified as 50-year-old Timothy Norton, yelled, “Hey kids, we are gonna die!”

A crew member said she told Norton to stop and he responded by telling her to shut up and calling her an explicit word.

Police said the captain of the plane was very upset at Norton’s behaviour because there were many children of all ages on board the flight.

Norton was detained in the jet bridge. Officer said they could smell a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on him, and that he had very slurred speech and was being argumentative.

Norton was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County jail on complaints including drunkenness and disorderly conduct, according to police.
