The Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the dispersion of the Federal SARS, Special Tactical Squad and Special Investigation with immediate effect.
The Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu who took on the mantle after taking over from Ibrahim Idris on the 15th of January, made this known on Monday, January 21st at his inaugural conference with Commissioners of Police and other senior officers in the Federal Capital.
Due to the new command, the Federal SARS will now be domiciled under the strict and direct supervision of the Commissioners of Police in all the 36 states, including the Federal Capital.
The IGP Special Tactical Squad and the IGP Special Investigation Panel were incepted during the reign of the Former IGP, Ibrahim Idris, who also focused the operations of SARS into Federal SARS.
Vice President of the Federation, Yemi Osinbajo had ordered a complete overtaking of the hierarchy of SARS after a large number of Nigerians, mainly youths complained of the violation of human rights by the officials of SARS.
